History of the School

Situated between the town of Guimba and Cuyapo in the province of Nueva Ecija, Dr. Ramon de Santos

National High School was formerly a barangay high school.

 

Dr.Ramon de Santos Barangay High School was founded in July 1966 through a resolution passed by the

municipal council of Cuyapo. the school was named after the landowner who donated the one-hectare lot adjacent to San Antonio Elementary school where it was housed for twenty-two years (1966-1988).

 

It was formally opened for service in 1966 with fifty six (56) first year and thirty (30) second year

students. The students populace came from the different barangays of Cuyapo and Guimba.

 

Two full-time teachers were hired and five (5) elementary school teachers rendered services as

honorarium teachers. The Administration of the School was under the principal of elementary school of San Antonio.

 

In 1967, the honorarium elementary teachers were replaced by additional 5 full teachers in addition

to the former two (2) regular teachers.

 

In 1968, a strong typhoon totally wrecked the school building. A 4- classroom Jason-type building was

erected with the help of thee provincial government of Nueva Ecija. In 1976, typhoon "Yalling" again devastated the new buildings. Nine (9) classroom of San Antonio Elementary School were utilized by the now Dr. Ramon de Santos National High School.

 

On January 1, 1984, Batas Pambansa Blg. 639 took into effort and one of the recipients of this law was

our school. This law ordered the DECS to appoint a principal for all newly nationalized high school. In November 12, 1984, Mr. Alfredo I. Bartolome was appointed as principal of Dr. ramon de Santos National High School. It was thru effort of Mr. Bartolome where the school was able to acquire a five (5) hectare school site 1.5 hectare of which was donated by the De Santos Family of San Antonio, Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija.

 

From then on, DRDSNHS has made its good name in the field of education.
